Meet Bernie, the St. Bernard - Xavier High School’s mascot. Bernie has been around since the school opened in 1998 but there has never had an official logo.
For the longest time I’d been wanting to study mascot/animal athletic logo design and maybe give it a try! For quite some time Xavier had been thinking about adding some sort of official Bernie icon to their visual library.
After starting to help with some video board design work with them this summer at my old stomping grounds, I thought some sort of Bernie logo would be a great opportunity to dive into mascot logo design which met both of the above criteria. After some work this is what came to fruition AND it has been picked up by Xavier to start appearing on their platforms. Two variations were created of Bernie, a friendlier one and a fiercer one named Battle Bernie.
